Nicole’s Story In Her Own Words

From a young age, I was drawn into the world of holistic health. When I was 12, my mother—then a critical care nurse—attended a weekend seminar on nutrition, and our family’s life changed. We transitioned from the standard American diet (SAD diet) to a whole-foods lifestyle, moved to the country, and began homeschooling. I learned practical, time-honored skills like sewing, cooking, gardening, and using herbs—long before it was vogue. It was in this simple, grounded environment that my love for holistic medicine began.

Although I believed I understood how to care for my health, my late twenties brought unexpected challenges. After helping remodel three homes in four years, I was exposed to a variety of environmental toxins. At the same time, I was finishing my graduate degree in nutrition, launching a nutrition business, and teaching college classes. Over the next several years, my family moved five times. I began experiencing extreme fatigue, hormonal imbalances, mood changes, digestive issues, hair loss, and anxiety. My healing journey led me through a battle with unknown Lyme disease and introduced me to the amazing world of functional medicine just as it was emerging as a new medical paradigm.

Through my own experience and in helping others, I’ve witnessed the powerful healing potential of whole, healthy food, botanicals, and targeted nutrients. I shared this passion by teaching university and community classes, working as a technical writer for holistic physicians, and serving as a researcher for supplement companies—giving me valuable insight into formulation and quality. Before continuing my education in nursing, I also worked one-on-one with clients through my nutrition practice. I most enjoy listening deeply to each person’s story and helping connect the pieces of their health puzzle. While I’ve supported people of all backgrounds, I have a special interest in caring for women and children, particularly in the areas of reproductive health and fertility.

I believe strongly in “practicing what I preach.” I prioritize a whole foods diet, clean water, fresh air, restorative sleep, and daily movement. To manage stress, I find peace on brisk hikes in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains but most importantly, I draw strength from communing with my LORD in prayer and time in Scripture—my daily source of inspiration and guidance.
